D.C. Here We Come

Gillian, Our travel plans are shaping up. We'll be arriving in D.C. Sunday late afternoon, October 5th and would love to have dinner with you once we arrive. Our stay will be at the Best Western Springfield Mall, (703) 922-6100,6721 Commerce St, Springfield, VA 22150, (end of the blue line) consisting of three nights, departure on Wednesday midday. Hopefully, in addition, we can have lunch a time or so while we visit nearby museums. We're really excited to see you, where you work and interesting sites of your new home town. AK

Touring D.C. in October

Okay, Ryan's, Uncle Keith and I are going to drive up to D.C. with Carl and Ruth sometime around October 7, 8 or 9 spending a couple of nights south of the yellow line. What suggestions might you offer for tourists? Carl & Ruth were there recently and Carl loved the Spy museum. Sounds like the Holocaust Museum, war memorials and Smithsonian are primary points of interest to us. We would like your suggestions.

Gillian, we'll take you out to eat while there at least one evening and hopefully both evenings. We'll have to see what works out.

This will be pretty exciting. Ruth called today and asked if we would be interested in driving up, about 4.5 hours from N.C. Sounded like a trip I've been wanting to take. : )

Orchestral things

Hi again :). I'm back with an update.

Saturday afternoon I auditioned for the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic community orchestra and I got in. Woop woop! I will most likely be playing 2nd violin. I told the director that I would play wherever he needs players because I enjoy both 1st and 2nd sections, so I assume he'll put me in the middle voice. He said that people with a good ear often enjoy playing the middle voice and people with less of an ear often like to play the top. Anyway, if you want to check out the site for the orchestra it's wmpa.us, I believe.

The audition was pretty quick. I just played a part of a movement of a concerto, so it only took about 10 minutes. I'm really excited about being part of the orchestra. We start rehearsals on the 7th of next month. Yay! I'm back in the habit!
